The All Initiative Event Experience
March 18, 2025
I have just returned from the All Initiative Conference in Athens, where over a hundred believers from across Europe gathered to be encouraged, inspired, and equipped for the glorious task of making disciples. Throughout the week, I was reminded of Jesus’ words in Matthew 28—His Great Commission to all of us: All Authority belongs to Him. All disciples are to reach all of the nations. All Things are to be taught and obeyed. Always—He is with us always in this mission.
The call to make disciples is for everyone—no one is excluded. It’s not for the experts, the theologians, or the church leaders alone. It’s for you, right where you are.
At the conference, we heard incredible stories of God at work:
• A pharmacist who has helped people access the Bible through their mobile devices and has seen a colleague come to faith in Jesus — simply by living an intentional disciple-making lifestyle.
• A leadership consultant challenging us to rethink how we are to be the church that welcomes people in rather than keeping them out.
• Incredible stories of disciples being made, even in the midst of such devastation as Ukrainian refugees.
• Continual stories of ordinary, everyday disciples simply reading the bible with friends, neighbours, and colleagues and then coming to faith.
• Churches reporting people are turning up to their Sunday gatherings hungry for truth, getting engaged in community, and coming to Christ.
I could go on, but through conversations, I was blessed to hear countless stories of passion and perseverance — people longing to see disciples made across Europe. And I left with a renewed fire to see the same movement sweep through the neighbourhoods of the United Kingdom.
A Vision for the UK
At GEM UK, we believe that if every disciple caught this vision, it could transform our nation. Imagine if, across the UK:
- Every Christian saw themselves as a disciple-maker, not just a churchgoer.
- Every home, workplace, and neighbourhood became a mission field.
- The church shifted from gathering in barns to sowing seed in the fields, activating every believer to live out the Gospel.
We are seeing the beginnings of this in cities and towns across the UK, our workers of a new generation being raised up to make disciples. Through everyday missional endeavours—whether engaging young people, students, urban, suburban, or city populations, refugees, or Muslim majority areas—the work of disciple-making is happening!
There isn’t anything spectacular about these efforts—no grand strategy, no perfect plan—just ordinary people stepping into an extraordinary calling. This is how movements begin, how the UK can be transformed, and what GEM UK is praying for and working towards.
Jesus told the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13), illustrating how the Gospel seed is often hindered by the enemy, distractions, or the cares of the world. But when the seed falls on good soil, it multiplies—thirty, sixty, or a hundredfold.
Let me ask you:
What’s holding you back?
Do you feel unsure about how to start?
Do you need training, encouragement, or resources?
We want to walk with you in this. Whether it’s through equipping, training, experiences, or simply praying with you, we are here to help. We don’t need perfect plans, but we do need faithful obedience.
As one speaker reminded us, “The enemy of a good plan is the dream of a perfect plan.” What if your simple ‘yes’ to Jesus could spark something greater than you ever imagined?
We’d love to hear from you! Click on our contact form below and get in touch.
Where are you seeking to make disciples? What challenges are you facing? How can we equip you?
We are praying for a disciple-making movement in the UK — and we believe YOU are part of it.
Let’s not store the seed in the barn. Let’s sow it in the fields.
With expectation and joy,

Josh Walsh
